Bookswap Final Date [Jan. 6th, 2015|04:40 pm]
Chicklit Bookswap in London

lsugaralmond
Looks like Feb 14th is the winner. It was a tie between that and the 28th but since two people said they can't do the 28th... 14th it is. Sorry not everybody can make it! And if you think I've been unfair then speak up!

Books! What is more romantic on Valentine's day?

Anyway, as I said, I'm very happy to host. But if somebody else would like to do it then I am just as happy not to host. I'm afraid I can't put any out-of-towners up though as I think John's parents are staying that weekend.

So, headcount. Who's coming?

As a sort of housekeeping in response to the last post, this will be the headcount post-- if you're coming, let me know here. I'll boost it again closer to the day, but it'd be good to have a rough headcount.

The last post about the bookswap seemed to suggest that there was only me, jamjar and one other possible, which is not quite enough for a swap! So I suggest it's cancelled for this time round, and you Londoners pick it up another time.

Saturday 8th March for the bookswap? [Jan. 9th, 2014|09:57 pm]

So who would be interested in a bookswap, Saturday 8th March? I'm happy to host.

Also, would anybody be interested in also doing a craft swap? wool, fabric, that kind of thing?

The swap is tomorrow! If you were previously a "maybe" on the poll and are now coming, could you please let me know? Any special sandwich requests?

Hello everyone!

It's just over a month until the seventh London Bookswap, so it's time for a poll:

Poll #1812954 Bookswap time is nearly here!

Will you be there?

Yes, hurrah!
12(60.0%)
Perhaps, maybe, it all depends...
5(25.0%)
No, woe!
3(15.0%)

I'll do a more detailed "how to get here" post later, but this year's swap will be hosted by me at my house in North Finchley (nearest tube is Woodside Park, lots of buses come here, there's a car park at the end of the street).

Since LJ's poll creator keeps crashing my browser, please could you let me know in comments:

*any special food requirements?
*any children coming along? (quiet nap space, CBeebies access, cartoon DVDs, colouring books etc are all available if needed!)
*anyone needs collecting from the station? (mobility problems/injury/TOO MANY BOOKS)
*anything else that would make it easier for you to attend?

I've made a post about an Edinburgh bookswap in the [Unknown LJ tag] community, here. You should totally all come!

Bookswap Coming Soon! [Jan. 29th, 2009|06:45 pm]

I really wasn't kidding about already having an overflowing box of proof copies:

For those of you who are newish to the community and are wondering what exactly this bookswap business entails, don't worry! It is totally fun! And here is a handy guide that pisica wrote for last year. We may call it a bookswap, but all kinds of swapsies are totally fair game - DVDs, CDs, comics, bizarre unwanted Christmas presents. If you can carry it, you can bring it. It is predominantly books though - we're purists at heart.

And if you don't have anything to swap, don't worry! You can totally still come and take things away with you. We ALWAYS end up with tons of great stuff left over. (Also some utterly rubbish stuff, but that is why we take all the leftovers to the Oxfam bookshop - even they can probably find somebody who wants to buy a complete history of the Conservative party. Maybe)

So yeah, Bookswap 2009 is almost upon us (FEBRUARY 28TH), and I thought it was time we got on with the very small amount of planning that this involves. Basically, I just need a rough idea of numbers, so that I can make sure there are enough sandwiches and cheesy puffs to go around. Hence, a handy poll:

Poll #1339863 London Bookswap 2009 (Baby!)

Are You Coming?

I am totally for sure coming
12(60.0%)
I may be coming, but there is stuff going on in my life that might get in the way, and I'll have to get back to you
5(25.0%)
I CAN'T COME. Instead I will sit at home and weep bitter bookswapless tears
3(15.0%)

I am...

An omnivore
9(52.9%)
A vegetarian
5(29.4%)
A vegan
0(0.0%)
Fussy in a very specific way that I will detail in the comments
1(5.9%)
In possession of some really wacky food allergies
0(0.0%)

I will post my address and directions to my flat a bit nearer the time. Don't worry though, it's totally easy to get to. All you need is a cursory knowledge of the London tube and the ability to differentiate right from left.

Alrighty then! See you all in a month!
